IBS WEEK 15

Jonah 1:2

God's desire for all of His people is to come to Him to be saved. Though we turn away, He continues to call to and beckon for us, giving us ways to come back to Him. He could have easily destroyed the Ninevites because of their wickedness, but He instead chose to send Jonah as a messenger to give them a chance to come back to righteousness.

People will ask, "Why does God go through all that trouble? Why didn't He just destroy them? He would have been totally right to do so." The answer is simple: God didn't want to. He loves us! He loves His people, and His desire is for ALL to come to Him, so He'll give us ways out of our sin to see us prosper.
Praise God for His unending second chances!

Application: Put verse in concordance under "Grace".

This is my HOME.

Happy February!

This time is going by so fast! I don't know if I've ever had this much inner conflict before--I want to go back to the States, but at the same time I don't ever want to leave this beautiful place and all of these incredible people.
Lord willing, He'll continue to send me farther and faster than I could imagine, but for now I'm soaking up this place as I should: as if there's no tomorrow.

Spending every day knowing tomorrow isn't promised.

Jesus rules!

IBS WEEK 14

Galatians 6:10

"Therefore" is referring to verse 9, being able to reap the harvest of the good works God does through us at the proper time. What must be kept in mind is the proper time is God's time, which very well might not until we see Jesus.
It's' such a simple command--doing good to all people. All people. There is no exception. There are many reasons for this, but the main one is to represent Christ to the lost and dying world--loving people tryly with the heart that they would see Jesus.

This verse puts such a good emphasis on the command to love. Living a pure, honorable, true, and lovely life brings me back to this verse. Seeing it straight-forward is an incredible encouragement for what to strive for and an excellent reminder of God's heart.

My application is to put this in my concordance under "LIFE", because it is a literal command of what to do everyday to all people.

Romans 12:1-4

God purposed us to be here right now; it's not a mistake we're living in a troubled world in a troubled time. He wants us here and planted us here because He has the infinite knowledge we so lack and the wisdom we can't understand, the knowledge and wisdom with a plan. If we present our bodies as a sacrifice to His will, plans, and purposes, then we can watch the incredible work that He does--always glorifying His name.

He wants our mind, body, and will, then He'll use us as an instrument of righteousness. We have no right, and the body is the physical manifestation of worship and and faith to Him. It belongs to Him (He paid for it, after all), and we are the temple of His Spirit--our body isn't us, it's simply a container.

I will re-read this every morning for the next week in order to remind myself of the place I am with God, and as a way to keep my heart and mind in check when praying to be filled with the Spirit.

IBS GALATIANS 5:1

Standing firm in all things...according to the will of God. Let go of the old man and grow as you're being transformed by the Spirit. Stand firm in what you have in and what comes with Christ. You don't need the world or anything in it; only what we're called to do here and who we're called to serve.

We voluntarily pick up that yoke and put it on ourselves when we look to the world. We voluntarily carry the burdens of sin and our flesh. We choose to step into slavery, selling ourselves into it for the cheap price of a fleeting pleasure, gratifying our fleshly desires.
Praise the LORD for not letting me live the way I used to, for opening my eyes and seeing sin as it is: sin. Destructive, but something we can all be freed from by Christ alone.

Praise Him for pulling each and every one of us out of ourselves.

My application for today is to write "Set Free" on my wrist as a reminder, as well as putting this verse in my concordance under the topic of "Freedom".

IBS WEEK 11

Galatians 4:6

We receive so much more than His Spirit; we receive everything that comes with Sonship. We have an inheritance of His Kingdom for eternity, the ability to call God our FATHER, and not to mention everything else that comes with having Jesus in our heart. He breaks chains, frees us from the bonds of the enemy, and replaces that condemnation with peace, joy, comfort, and love.
How amazing it is to have the Creator of the universe, the King of kings and the Lord of lord, the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End care about us and love us with such a deep love to send His son to take our death on our cross, then give us all of the above.

My application is to add this verse in my concordance, namely under Loneliness and God's Love, as a constant reminder that we DO belong to the One True King, always and forever.
